If you would like to
contact Elder Draper by ocean, you may put a message in a bottle and throw it
into the ocean towards Japan. However, we do not recommend this, the OPS (Ocean
Postal Service) isn't as reliable as the US postal service, although at times I
have thought about using the OPS more often than you'd think, due to shorter
lines. Using the OPS also requires a little more faith and prayers than the
other 2 methods listed above, but it is considerably cheaper than the USPS.
If you do choose this method, please be sure to put your message on recycled paper. If you are using a plastic bottle please be sure to not freeze your bottle before exposing it to the open waters, we don't want to damage the fish, crustaceans, and/or mollusks with carcinogenic dioxins. We would prefer you use the bottles with the following numbers on the bottom: 1, 2, 4, or 5. You can find these numbers on the bottom of your bottle enclosed in the "recycle" symbol. Please avoid the following numbers, as they may also damage our underwater friends: 7, 3, 6, or 5.

When you go to drop off your message in a bottle at the OPS drop off site, please be sure it is dark (you may want to consider wearing a disguise) and the following people cannot see you, as this is considered littering: Police officers, beach patrol, mysterious looking strangers, and people holding video cameras and/or cell phones. We will not be responsible for any fines that may be bestowed upon you.
